Nearly a decade after the beloved supernatural drama Vampire Diaries came to an end, Nina Dobrev and Paul Wesley are officially reuniting for a brand-new project—and, fittingly, it’s another book adaptation.
The pair will star in and executive produce Hulu’s upcoming adaptation of You Deserve to Know, a mystery thriller based on Aggie Blum Thompson’s bestselling 2025 novel.

Dobrev announced the project on Instagram, writing:
“Paul Wesley and I are reuniting to executive produce and star in You Deserve to Know. We fell in love with this novel, and getting to help shape its adaptation from both sides of the camera has been incredibly exciting.“
Wesley also shared the announcement, confirming that he’ll be producing the adaptation alongside Dobrev.
It’s exciting to see the two working together again—not only as actors, but also behind the scenes helping bring the story to life.
What Is You Deserve to Know About?
Based on Aggie Blum Thompson’s 2025 thriller, You Deserve to Know follows three suburban couples whose seemingly perfect friendships begin to unravel after one of the husbands is murdered. As the investigation unfolds, long-buried secrets, betrayals, and lies threaten to destroy everything they thought they knew about one another.
According to the official series logline, Dobrev and Wesley will play neighbors caught on opposite sides of the murder investigation.
If you love domestic thrillers packed with twists, suspicious neighbors, and secrets hiding behind closed doors, this one sounds like it should be on your radar.
A Full-Circle Moment for The Vampire Diaries Fans
One of my favorite parts about this announcement is the irony behind it.
The project reuniting Nina Dobrev and Paul Wesley is… another book adaptation.
Of course, The Vampire Diaries itself was based on L.J. Smith’s bestselling book series before becoming one of television’s most popular supernatural dramas.
Now, years later, the duo are once again bringing a novel to the screen—this time in a completely different genre.
Instead of vampires and Mystic Falls, they’ll be diving into a suspenseful murder mystery filled with suburban secrets.
Why I’m Excited
As someone who loves book-to-screen adaptations, this announcement immediately caught my attention.
Not only do Nina Dobrev and Paul Wesley have incredible on-screen chemistry, but the fact that they’re executive producing the project makes me even more optimistic. It suggests they’re invested in telling the story well—not just starring in it.
I’m also always excited to see thrillers getting adapted. The genre has produced some fantastic television over the past few years, and You Deserve to Know seems like it has all the ingredients for another addictive watch.
